Ronaldo’s father José Dinis Aveiro was the store keeper of the club Andorinha. His mother used to work in other’s house for a living. At the time of Cristiano Ronaldo’s birth, Ronald Regan was the US president. So in the name of Ronald Regan his father named him Ronaldo saying he would be as great as Ronald Regan. His father died when Ronaldo was very young due to the consumption of excessive alcohol. Cristiano was fond of playing football since his young age. His father didn’t use to like him playing football but his mother Maria Dolores was his greatest supporter.

Sport career:

Ronaldo spent his young career in the local club Andorinha. In 1995, at the age of 10 he then moved to CD National. After spending a couple of year in National, in 1997 Sporting CP signed him. He spent one year in Sporting’s B team and one year in Sporting’s A team in his two years spell.


7th of August was the remarkable date for Ronaldo when Sporting Lisbon defeated Manchester United 3-1 in the friendly match. Then Manchester United’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson thought of buying this wonder kid who made United’s defender John O’Shea knees down.


Then just after 5 days, on 12th August 2003, Manchester United signed him for the transfer of £12.24 million. This transfer made him the most expensive teenager in the English football history. His move to English club Manchester United was the career turning for him. There Ronaldo was handed the jersey number 7 which was previously worn by David Beckham.


Ronaldo spent six years of his early career in the Old Trafford. In his six years, he won total of nine trophies which includes 3 premier leagues and a champions league. There he won the his first most prestigious individual award ‘ Ballon d’Or’ in 2008.

The last two seasons of Ronaldo at Manchester United were the most memorable seasons for him. He won premier league in 2006/07 and also won player of the year award. Next season he lifted his first ever UCL title defeating Chelsea. Also he won European golden shoe in his last season at Manchester United.

After spending six years in England, Ronaldo said goodbye to Manchester United when Real Madrid signed him for the world record transfer of 96 million euros. This is regarded as his career turning signing.

On June 11, 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo officially joined Real Madrid. This signing was the first page of the Cristiano Ronaldo’s success diary. He was handed the Real Madrid’s legendary jersey number 7. After joining Los Balncos, he made and broke many records.


In the process of changing himself from boy to man, Ronaldo created and showed himself as a beast. There he found Lionel Messi as his rival who forced him to be more better and efficient.


Ronaldo won four champions league trophies, three club world cups, three UEFA super cups, two laliga titles, two super copa de Espana and two copa del reys for Real Madrid.


Along with titles, he won won many individual awards too. He received European golden shoe award three times in 2010/11, 2013/14 and 2014/15 scoring 40, 31 and 48 league goals. Also he won Ballon d’Or four times. He won it in 2012/13,2013/14,2015/16 and 2016/17. These individual awards made him one of the best footballer in the world.

Later on after spending memorable nine years at Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo joined Italian giant Juventus for $129.3 million. This was the most highest transfer fee for 30+ aged players.


Despite, changing the club, changing the platform he adopted for a decade, he gave a mind blowing performance in Italy in his debut season. In his 1st season for Juventus, he scored total of 28 goals which includes 21 league goals 6 champions league goals and 1 in Super Cup final. He finished his season as second league top scorer. Ronaldo was awarded with the MVP most valuable player of Serie A 2018/19. He is the first ever player to win MVP in three different leagues.
