The qualification of global ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will take place in India in 2021.
According to the International Cricket Council, the last four team from ICC Men’s T20 will have to play with next best four T20 ranked team as of 1 January 2020: Zimbabwe, Nepal, UAE and Hong Kong. Today, ICC confirmed, this team will play in Global Qualification that will be take place in India in 2021.
As per International Cricket Council, sixteen teams will have to play two global qualification to grab the spot in the 2020 edition of T-20 World Cup. Moreover, the 12 teams, which make round two of the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia will gain automatic entry into the event in following year.
ICC Head of Events Chris Tetley said, “This decision will help to grow global cricket by replacing champions trophy with T20 Men’s World Cup. And, our qualifications will provide tight schedule for the growth.”
Team from different continents will have to play 11 Regional Qualification Event.
1. Africa
The top 2 team from Africa: Kenya(25) and Nigeria(40) will qualify for Africa final while the remaining teams will compete in one of two sub-regional qualifiers. The top 2 team from sub-regional qualifiers will be in Africa final.
The winner of this tournament will be in global qualifiers.
2. Asia
Team will play in two regional qualifier. The winner of each regional qualifier will be in Global Qualifier.
3. Europe
Jersey(26) will automatically qualify for the Europe final. The remaining teams will compete in one of three sub-regional qualifiers. The top team from each sub-regional qualifier will be in Europe final and the top 2 winner will be in Global Qualifier.
4.Americas
There will be only one event to progress in Global qualifier. The top two from regional final will play global qualifier.
5.East Asia Pacific
Team will compete in one regional final. The winner will move to global qualifier.
