US-Iran Tension and the Death of Quassem Soleimani

As we know the conflict between Iran and US is reaching to its peak. The tension hikes after US killed Qassem Soleimani by an air strike in Baghdad last week on Friday. The strike killed at least 25 people. After the strike Pro-Iranian protesters attacked the US Embassay in Baghdad. From Overthrow of Mossadeq in 1953, Iranian revolution 1979, US Embassy hostage crisis to the tension under President Trump, there were series of chaotic and tricky relations between these two nations. Lets have a look at the timeline of events that led to Soleimani killing.

Timeline and events:

In 2018, US withdrew from Iran nuclear deal. President Donald Trump declared the withdrawal. As a result, this increased coldness in their relations. On April 8, 2019 Trump announced Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iranian military as a foreign terrorist organisation. Immediately Iran declared US "a state sponsor of terrorism". The relation between the worsen after May 2019, when the US tightened the sanctions regarding Iran's oil exports. In May and June, US accuses Iran for explosions hitting oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman. Later, US increased the deployment of troops to the middle east. After that there occurs series of attacks and revenges between two nations. While Trump was signing orders for attacks and threat to Iran, Iran was ready to confront them. Moreover, on December 8, Iran even issued the budget of resistance against US sanctions. On December 27, a rocket attack on Iraqi military base killed a US contractor and wounded several US service members. Later US officials blamed an Iran backed military for the attack. After two days, Us carried out strikes on sites in Iraq and Syria. On January 3, air strike at Baghdad airport killed Qassem Soleimani. Now both the countries are threatening each other for attacks and revenges.
