Most companies that hire engineers abroad end up with a body shop: a recruiter rents you a contractor by the hour, you manage them across a time zone and an HR system you do not control, and when they leave the knowledge leaves with them. We work the other way. Lattice is a studio — a standing team that builds, ships and runs software, including our own. A working morning here overlaps with the end of the Australian day and the start of the British one, so a stand-up with Sydney, London or Dubai lands inside everyone’s working hours rather than at midnight. The United States is the genuine stretch — our afternoon is your early morning — and we are honest about it: we hold a real daily overlap window with the US East Coast, run the rest asynchronously, and write the work down so it moves while you sleep instead of waiting for you to wake up. A good share of the people who write to us are not engineers at all. They are founders and business owners with an idea and no clear sense of what it would take to build — whether it is a week or a year, a weekend project or a real company. For them the first step is not a contract; it is a conversation. We sit with the idea, test whether it holds together, and hand back a plain feasibility read and an IT roadmap: what to build first, what to leave for later, what it should roughly cost, and where the idea is most likely to break. You can take that document to us, to another builder, or nowhere at all. It is yours.

Everything we build is published under your own accounts and repositories — the code, the cloud, the app-store listings, the domain. You are never locked to us to ship an update or move to another team. And the work is grounded in software we run ourselves: this site, our journal, and our clients’ products all sit on the same Next.js, FastAPI and PostgreSQL stack we would put your team on, hosted on infrastructure we operate day to day. We are not recommending a stack we have only read about.

The arithmetic does favour you — a senior engineer in Nepal costs a fraction of one in San Francisco, London or Melbourne — but cost is the wrong reason to choose a team, and the wrong reason to choose us. Cheap engineering that has to be rebuilt is the most expensive kind.
