Siddhartha Bank internet banking runs on BankSmart XP. Learn the web login, app registration, password reset, NPR limits, charges and customer care numbers.
Siddhartha Bank's internet banking for individual customers runs through one digital service, Siddhartha BankSmart XP. The bank's product page describes it as mobile banking, internet banking and digital payments in one app, and it works in two places: a mobile app on Android and iOS, and a web version you open in a browser at banksmartxp.siddharthabank.com. When people search for "Siddhartha Bank internet banking", "Siddhartha Bank login" or "Siddhartha ebanking", this is the service they are looking for. One account, one mobile number and one set of credentials cover both the app and the web.
This guide covers how to register (at a branch or by yourself in the app), where to log in on the web, how to reset a forgotten password or PIN, what you can pay and transfer, the bank's published transaction limits and charges, and how to reach Siddhartha Care when something goes wrong. Every figure below comes from Siddhartha Bank's own website, the two BankSmart XP FAQs the bank publishes, or the app's store listings.
What Siddhartha BankSmart XP Is
The bank's FAQ describes BankSmart XP as its mobile banking service for instant access to your accounts, and states that it can be used from two channels: the mobile application and the web. The Google Play listing names the app Siddhartha BankSmartXP, published by Siddhartha Bank, and describes it as the bank's official mobile banking app. It is a member of the Fonepay network, so you can scan Fonepay QR codes at shops and pay online merchants on that network.
The store descriptions themselves still open with the older name ("Siddhartha BankSmart is Siddhartha Bank's Official Mobile Banking App"), and the App Store link under the old name redirects to the BankSmartXP listing, so if you already have the app installed, you are on the same product.
BankSmart XP App vs BankSmart XP Web: What Each Does
Both channels reach the same account, but they are not identical. The most important difference: activation, self-registration and password or PIN resets can only be done in the mobile app, not on the web. The FAQ says this directly. So even if you plan to bank mainly from a laptop, you need the app installed once to set things up.
| Point | Mobile app | Web (banksmartxp.siddharthabank.com) |
|---|---|---|
| Registration and activation | Yes | No |
| Forgot password / PIN reset | Yes | No |
| How transactions are confirmed | Transaction PIN | OTP sent to your registered mobile number and email |
| Works without internet | Yes, in SMS mode | No |
| Use from abroad | Yes, in GPRS (data) mode | Yes |
| Daily limit for most transfers | NPR 300,000 | NPR 2,000,000 |
The app supports two modes. In GPRS mode it works over Wi-Fi or mobile data like any other banking app. In SMS mode each request goes out as a text message and the reply comes back as a text, which helps when you have no data connection. SMS mode only works from the mobile number registered with the bank. If you use a dual-SIM phone, the bank notes that requests are sent from your default SIM, so set the registered number as default or you will see an "unregistered user" error.
How to Register for Siddhartha BankSmart XP
There are two routes. The branch route gives you full transaction access. Self-registration is faster but starts with a lower payment limit.
Option 1: Register at a branch (full financial access)
- Visit your nearest Siddhartha Bank branch and fill in the BankSmart XP registration form. You will receive an SMS confirming the registration.
- Download Siddhartha BankSmartXP from the Google Play Store or the App Store.
- Open the app, tap Register/Activate and accept the terms and conditions.
- Enter your mobile number and accept the SMS charges. The app generates an activation code and opens your phone's SMS app.
- Send that SMS from the same mobile number you registered at the bank.
- Return to the app and enter the OTP you receive.
- Enter your account number, then follow the steps to set a login password, a transaction PIN, a security question and your email ID.
Option 2: Self-register without visiting a branch
You can download the app, tap Register/Activate and follow the same steps as above, as long as you use the mobile number you gave when opening the account. The bank's FAQ is clear about the trade-off: self-registered users get a minimal payment limit. To get the full financial role, you still need to visit a branch and fill in the form. You can check which role you have on the My Profile page inside the app.
Customers living abroad
The FAQ describes a different process for customers outside Nepal. You visit the nearest Siddhartha Bank agent, who creates your user. Then you download the app, tap Register/Activate, enter your mobile number and receive the OTP on your registered email ID instead of by SMS. From there you set your login password, transaction PIN and security question.
No Siddhartha Bank account yet?
Non-account holders can also download the app and self-register. You get the services that do not depend on an account. If you open an account later, you visit a branch to convert your user to an account-holder user and link the account. If you want to open the account itself online first, the bank runs an online account opening portal at openaccount.siddharthabank.com.
How to Log In to Siddhartha Bank Internet Banking
The official web login is https://banksmartxp.siddharthabank.com/. The bank's FAQ gives this exact address for the web channel.
- Type the address into your browser yourself rather than clicking a link from an email or a social media message.
- On the "Login to your account" screen, enter your registered mobile number and tap Proceed.
- Enter your login password. This is the same password you set in the app.
- When you make a transaction on the web, you confirm it with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number and email ID.
If you have never activated BankSmart XP in the app, the web login will not work. Activate it in the app first, as described above.
On the mobile app, you log in with your login password and use your transaction PIN to complete payments and transfers. The bank explains the split this way: the password gets you in, the PIN authorises money leaving your account.
Forgot Your BankSmart XP Password or PIN?
Password and PIN resets happen in the app only. The web channel cannot do them. The bank publishes the steps in two places, the FAQ inside the BankSmart XP web app and the FAQ page on siddharthabank.com, and they differ on one identity step:
- Open the BankSmart XP app and tap Forgot Password on the login page.
- Accept the applicable charges and enter your registered mobile number. Accept the SMS charges; the app generates an activation code and opens your SMS app.
- Send that message from the mobile number registered with the bank.
- Once the code is validated, you receive an OTP. Enter it and submit.
- Enter your primary account number, then confirm your identity. The FAQ on siddharthabank.com says you select your date of birth, which must match the bank's records; the older FAQ inside the web app says you answer the security questions you set at registration.
- After verification, set a new login password and a new transaction PIN.
One limit applies: the bank's website FAQ says a reset only works from the device you last logged in from. From a completely new phone you must visit a branch or contact Siddhartha Care. If you cannot complete the steps, you can also request a password or PIN reset at your nearest branch or by calling Siddhartha Care on 01-5970020; customers abroad go through a Siddhartha Bank agent or the bank's overseas staff. The bank's Standard Tariff of Charges lists the BankSmart password reset or user unblock fee as NPR 0.
Changed phones?
When you log in on a new device, the app asks you to authorise it. It generates a verification code and opens your SMS app; send that message from your registered number, enter the OTP that follows, and the new device is saved. Your password and PIN stay the same. The BankSmart XP product page on siddharthabank.com describes the fallback: if you change phones or upgrade the app, visit the nearest branch to have your device ID reset.
Fund Transfers, Bill Payments and Other Features
The BankSmart XP FAQ lists the following services:
- Account enquiries: available balance, account statement, transaction history, interest rates, forex rates and your transaction limit.
- Transactions: mobile top-ups, fund transfers, utility payments, merchant payments and third-party payments.
- Service requests: cheque book requests, fixed deposits and cardless withdrawal.
- Product details: your loan, fixed deposit and credit card information.
- Support: Helpdesk, Book an Appointment, profile check and ATM and branch locations.
- QR payments: scan and pay through the Fonepay network, according to the app's store listing.
The payments section of the web version shows these bill categories: electricity, domestic and international flights, internet, toll payment, TV, government revenue, insurance, water, school, capital, EMI, cable cars, buses, park, Fonepay vouchers, pension fund, food and more.
The transaction limit page lists separate limits for each transfer type: Send Money, Inter Bank Transfer, IPS Transfer, NPS Transfer, Schedule Payment and Wallet loads. That tells you which transfer routes the service supports.
Siddhartha Bank's rewards programme is also tied to BankSmart XP. Under the Siddhartha Rewards terms, points are viewed and redeemed only by logging in to BankSmart XP: in the app you tap Siddhartha Rewards in the main menu, and on the web it sits under Account in the All Account menu. A top-up or utility payment made from the BankSmart XP top-up section earns one point per NPR 100.
Money debited but the transaction failed?
Open your statement after logging in, tap the three-dot menu next to the disputed transaction and raise a dispute with the relevant details. The bank says its customer care team handles these disputes.
Siddhartha BankSmart XP Transaction Limits and Charges
Siddhartha Bank publishes BankSmart XP limits on its Transaction Limit page, split by mobile device and web. All amounts are in NPR. The bank notes that these limits can change with NRB circulars and its own business decisions, so check the page or the app before a large payment.
Mobile app limits
| Type | Transactions per day | Per transaction | Per day | Per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Payments | 100 | 200,000 | 500,000 | 2,000,000 |
| Send Money | 25 | 300,000 | 300,000 | 2,000,000 |
| Schedule Payment | 25 | 300,000 | 300,000 | 2,000,000 |
| Inter Bank Transfer | 25 | 300,000 | 300,000 | 2,000,000 |
| IPS Transfer | 10 | 300,000 | 300,000 | 2,000,000 |
| NPS Transfer | 25 | 300,000 | 300,000 | 2,000,000 |
| Wallet | 10 | 25,000 | 200,000 | 1,000,000 |
| Cardless Withdraw | 4 | 20,000 | 50,000 | 300,000 |
Web (internet banking) limits
| Type | Transactions per day | Per transaction | Per day | Per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Payments | 100 | 1,000,000 | 2,000,000 | 5,000,000 |
| Send Money | 25 | 1,000,000 | 2,000,000 | 5,000,000 |
| Schedule Payment | 25 | 1,000,000 | 2,000,000 | 5,000,000 |
| Inter Bank Transfer | 25 | 1,000,000 | 2,000,000 | 5,000,000 |
| IPS Transfer | 25 | 1,000,000 | 2,000,000 | 5,000,000 |
| NPS Transfer | 25 | 1,000,000 | 2,000,000 | 5,000,000 |
| Wallet | 10 | 50,000 | 200,000 | 1,000,000 |
The practical takeaway: if you need to move more than NPR 300,000 in a day, use the web version, where most transfer types allow up to NPR 2,000,000 per day. These are the full limits; a self-registered user starts with a lower payment limit until the branch form is submitted.
Charges
From Siddhartha Bank's Standard Tariff of Charges:
| Item | Charge |
|---|---|
| BankSmart / SMS alert annual subscription (per user) | NPR 300 |
| Password reset / user unblock | NPR 0 |
| Password re-issue (new PIN) | NPR 0 |
| Mobile number change | NPR 100 |
| BankSmart fund transfer fee per transaction (SBL account only) | Actual cost |
| Local inter-bank transfer, BFI to BFI account (listed under remittances, not under BankSmart) | NPR 10 per transfer |
| Interbank Payment System (IPS) | As per NCHL's charge |
SMS-based steps (activation, forgot password, device authorisation, SMS mode) also carry your mobile operator's SMS charge, which the app asks you to accept before it sends anything.
Security Practices to Follow
- Type the address yourself. Use banksmartxp.siddharthabank.com and nothing else for web login. Fake login pages are usually reached through links in messages.
- Never share your OTP, transaction PIN or security answers. Siddhartha Bank staff do not need them to help you.
- Keep your password and PIN different. The password gets someone into your account; the PIN moves money. Do not reuse either elsewhere.
- Update your mobile number at a branch as soon as it changes. OTPs, SMS mode and password resets all depend on that number.
- Download the app only from the official store listings linked in this guide. The listing says the app uses 128-bit SSL encryption when you are logged in.
- Raise a dispute quickly from your statement if money leaves your account without a completed transaction.
